Our Mission

An educator by profession, she had a big heart and strong attraction to those (young and old) who did not give up in the face of challenges, but who could use a little extra support in order to overcome and thrive. Margaret was always ready to offer her support and inspiration in such cases, and today the foundation continues that legacy.

Margaret also loved to celebrate the arts and artists, and the foundation produces its own concerts and events in celebration of her and them, and also supports arts education and immersion for a variety of underserved populations.

Finally, Margaret loved Martha’s Vineyard, and her foundation supports a variety of programs on the island.

The overarching goal of the foundation is to support an array of causes in greater Boston and Martha’s Vineyard that reflect her interests and personality, and which honor her memory and legacy.

Margaret was an extraordinary person in so many ways. She was strikingly beautiful both physically but also her spirit. And her soul and sense of love and adventure was really quite wonderful. She was full of life on the one hand, but she carried this incredible burden of her father’s suicide for her entire life. Margaret didn’t have any family of her own, and she decided that the best place to contribute would be to continue to support worthy causes after she was gone.
